FLYING KENNY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, FLYING KENNY and ELECTRONIC MASTER were checked when crowded for room between NORDIC STAR and BARURO which shifted out. Throughout the race, NORDIC STAR travelled wide and without cover. After the race, O Doleuze (ELECTRONIC MASTER) reported his mount was upset in the barriers and became fractious, then after being crowded at the start did not at any stage handle tonight’s track conditions. When questioned regarding the poor performance of FLYING KENNY, M W Leung said the horse has established wet track form and seemed to handle tonight’s track conditions. He said at no stage of the race did FLYING KENNY which was racing first up from a spell travel strongly and in his opinion felt weak throughout the race. ELECTRONIC MASTER and FLYING KENNY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ELECTRONIC MASTER and FLYING KENNY after the race did not show any significant findings. INVESTAR and SHINING DRAGON were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported BATURO had lost its right front plate. After the running of this race, a delegation of senior riders approached the Stewards and expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the track due to the heavy rain which had fallen since the racemeeting commenced. They said should rain continue to fall, they may experience difficulty with visibility as surface water was present on the track. It was agreed that racing should proceed and if further rain were to fall, the Stewards would give consideration to whether racing ought continue. Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 June 2008) FLYING KENNY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FLYING KENNY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer T W Leung this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING KENNY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
