After arriving at the Start, DIAMOND BRILLIANCE had its tongue tie replaced. NEEDLES AND THREAD and DILIGENT II were slow to begin. FORTE began awkwardly and got its head up. FAVOURITE SUPREME began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FORTE. From a wide barrier, in the early stages, BRILLIANT CHAPTER was taken back. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, FORTE got its head on the side and hung out. At the 200 Metres, FORTE became unbalanced in its action and was eased down. FORTE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FORTE after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FORTE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FORTE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the Straight, HANDSOME TARGET hung in and near the 100 Metres shifted in and made contact with KING PRAWN SUPREME. For the major part of the race, IRISH JIG travelled wide and without cover. F Coetzee (BRILLIANT CHAPTER) reported his saddle shifted back on jumping. DIAMOND BRILLIANCE and HANDSOME TARGET were sent for sampling.
