When the gates opened, SPECIAL DRAGON and WAIT FOR ME bounded in the air and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. FANTASTIC DANCER began awkwardly. Near the 1100 Metres, ALL CHANCES, which had been proving difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of KINGSGATE GLORY which had been travelling wide and without cover and at this time was steadied in an endeavour to shift in to a position with cover. KINGSGATE GLORY was not able to obtain a position with cover until the 700 Metres when REAL SPECIAL commenced to race keenly and was shifted out away from the heels of LUCKY MONEY. In the early part of the Straight, HOLIDAY SUN was steadied and shifted to the outside of KINGSGATE GLORY to obtain clear running. Also in the early part of the Straight, SPECIAL DRAGON, which was experiencing difficulty obtaining clear running, was shifted wider on the track. For some distance after the 400 Metres, GREAT LAND’S STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, AMSTERDAM, which had been having trouble obtaining clear running, was steadied away from the heels of REAL SPECIAL. In the Straight, AMSTERDAM hung in and proved difficult to ride. LUCKY MONEY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MONEY after the race did not show any significant findings. MONTE CRISTO, BEST POWER and SPECIAL DRAGON were sent for sampling.
