On May 6th, this horse recorded (dirt trial 1050m: 2-2-1), maintaining a relaxed pace and readily overtaking opponents. Four weeks ago in the same distance race, the performance was poor; settled in a good position tracking the leaders with steady speed but lacking a finishing burst. He finished sixth, beaten two and a half lengths. A recent barrier trial showed improvement. This time, he benefits from a 2lb weight reduction. Although proven over this distance with competitive sectionals, drawing an outside barrier is unfavorable. Trainer-jockey relationship appears strained; a slow start is anticipated.
