On 2/5, the horse completed a dirt trial over 1200m in sections of 1-1-2, leading but overtaken near the finish. Four weeks ago, in a race over the same distance, performance was underwhelming; settling in a good position tracking the leaders with a steady pace and lacking a finishing surge. One barrier trial has shown slight improvement. This time the horse benefits from a one-pound weight reduction, however, its group timing isn’t promising, leaving the situation less favourable. Trainer/jockey combination appears mismatched but drawing a good barrier provides an opportunity to lead. The jockey has some familiarity with the horse's capabilities; a clean break and intention to track the pace are key to improvement.
