MOJAVE DESERT

On May 8th, a dirt trial over 1200m saw this horse tracking in second place, three lengths behind the leader. Four weeks ago, over the same distance, it ran very well, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear before finishing strongly in the final two sections, losing by half a length. A recent barrier trial showed slight improvement. This time with a one-pound weight reduction and an outside draw, the plan is to settle back in the field; however, its finishing kick may not be strong enough to compete. Despite this unfavorable positioning, it has shown good form over this distance, recorded competitive sectionals against similar horses, and enjoys a good rapport with its trainer. There’s hope for a true performance.
