Four weeks ago, this horse ran an acceptable race over a Happy Valley mile, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear before making a mid-race effort but ultimately unable to close the gap. Following that run, it returned to training late and is now stepping up to 1800m at Happy Valley for the first time. This time carrying a two-pound weight reduction, despite this distance likely not being ideal, and drawing a poor barrier, the race is viewed as primarily a trial run.
