On June 17th, the horse completed a dirt trial over 1200m in sections of 6-5-3, moving out at the 300m mark and pushing for third place. Four weeks ago, it ran poorly over a Happy Valley mile, slow to jump and settling towards the rear but maintaining a steady pace with no visible finishing kick, resulting in a significant defeat. A subsequent barrier trial showed slight improvement. Another turf trial over 1400m is planned; this time carrying two pounds less weight, the group timing was reasonable, drawing an inside barrier, requiring a hold-up tactic. He possesses the strongest finishing kick within his group. Alexis Badel takes the ride, with some understanding of the horse’s capabilities. Despite a less than ideal situation and trainer/jockey incompatibility, it should not be underestimated.
