On June 27th, a turf trial over 1000m at Conghua saw the horse settle in a good position tracking the leaders, responding well to light urging and extending its lead. Five weeks ago, it ran poorly over a Happy Valley 1200m, slow from the gate and settling towards the rear, maintaining a steady pace but lacking a finishing kick, ultimately finishing well-beaten. A subsequent barrier trial showed slight improvement. This will be its debut over a short distance at Happy Valley; carrying a three-pound weight reduction this time, the distance may not suit its running style due to a lack of finishing speed and an unfavourable overall situation. However, it has demonstrated early pace and drawn a good barrier, so a clean break and a determined effort to lead should see it finish among the frontrunners.
