LEAN HERO

On June 26th (dirt trial 1200m: 6-7-6), the horse was held back and ran at a steady pace. Six weeks ago, over the same distance, the performance was poor; a slow jump led to settling towards the rear with a consistent tempo but lacked a strong finish, finishing sixth beaten three and a half lengths. One barrier trial has been completed, but it wasn’t sufficient preparation. This time benefiting from a one-pound weight reduction, the plan is to settle back in the field, however, the finishing kick isn't expected to be as strong as rivals. Despite having some form over this distance, competition within the group is relatively even and despite drawing a reasonable barrier, there doesn’t appear to be a clear opportunity for success.
