STEPS AHEAD

Two weeks ago, this horse ran poorly over a Happy Valley mile, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear with an even pace but failing to show any strong acceleration. He finished fourth, beaten three and a half lengths, maintaining a respectable level of performance. Returning to Sha Tin over 1400m this time with a one-pound weight reduction, having previously secured two wins at this distance, and with comparable times in the group, drawing an inside barrier, a hold-up tactic is anticipated, relying on a strong finishing kick – appearing competitive within the field. Zac Purton takes the ride, demonstrating familiarity with the horse’s temperament, and has been undergoing focused training; considered a leading contender.
