On October 10th, a turf trial over 1200m at Conghua showed limited potential with an unremarkable performance (9-9-8 sections). Three weeks prior, this horse delivered a strong run over 1200m on the Sha Tin turf, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear before making ground in fast sections during the final two furlongs. A subsequent barrier trial yielded no noticeable improvement. Returning to racing, another turf trial over 1400m is scheduled; this time requiring a 15lb weight increase despite three previous victories at this distance. The horse recorded good sectionals with its group and secured an inside draw. Expect a hold-up tactic, relying on a strong finishing kick—the best in the field. Hugh Bowman takes the ride, possessing some familiarity with the horse’s capabilities but facing less favorable conditions; trainer/jockey synergy is lacking, suggesting a trailing position may be the most realistic outcome.
