Four weeks ago, over this same distance, the performance was reasonable; he led comfortably and showed acceleration in the middle stages but couldn’t hold on to the finish. He finished sixth, beaten two and a half lengths. This race benefits from a two-pound weight reduction, though drawing an outside barrier is not ideal. Despite having secured three wins at this distance previously, his sectional times are comparable with rivals; he should be able to track the leaders. Likely to follow the pace, trainer and jockey remain in good agreement, and there doesn’t appear to be a specific plan.
