On 5/2, recorded a dirt trial over 1200m in 3-3-4, hampered at the 200m mark while settling in midfield. Four weeks ago, this horse ran poorly over a Happy Valley mile, tracking the leaders with an even pace but failing to accelerate. A recent barrier trial showed only moderate performance. Returning from his first run on dirt over a mile, he will carry one pound more weight in this race and drew an outside barrier. He needs to be held up early, however, his finishing kick was inferior to rivals. The trainer-jockey combination isn't ideal, but the horse has two wins at this distance previously.
