HAPPY UNIVERSE

On March 2nd, the horse recorded (dirt trial 1200m: 6-6-3), finishing third with a light ride and three lengths behind. Six weeks ago, it ran a respectable race over Sha Tin’s 1600m turf, jumping slowly but finishing strongly from the back to secure second place, beaten by only one length. Its level was good. A recent barrier trial showed slight improvement. Now switching to dirt over a mile for its debut at this distance, the horse carries just a one-pound increase in weight. The distance is not ideal and it has drawn an unfavorable outside barrier. Trainer/jockey combination isn't strong, but it can maintain a good position tracking the leaders. The jockey seems to be gaining understanding of the horse’s capabilities, and preparations are well underway, making it worth considering.
