On April 2nd (Conghua dirt trial 1200m: 4-2-3), the horse showed good early speed to take a forward position and then settled comfortably. Four weeks ago, in a dirt mile race, performance was reasonable with a hold-up tactic. A recent barrier trial indicated slight improvement. Returning to Happy Valley over a mile, this time he will carry one pound more, timing figures are on the weaker side, facing a disadvantageous situation due to poor barrier draw and needing to be held up. Finishing kick is unlikely to match rivals; trainer/jockey combination isn’t ideal. Positively, he has two previous wins at this distance and recent track work looks promising, leaving some chance for success.
