Seven days ago, the horse performed reasonably well in a dirt 1200m trial; he was slow to leave the gate, ran in the rear, and showed weakening drive in the final stages, finishing as runner-up. In his subsequent run over a Happy Valley mile on turf, the conditions were not advantageous, and his finishing kick was not outstanding. The connection between jockey and trainer did not appear particularly harmonious; however, winning the race was expected given his strong time rating within the field and a high overall performance score in the event, so an underperformance is not surprising.
