23/4 (Shekou dirt trial 1200m: 6-6-5) Ran smoothly, lightly stretching out. Six weeks ago, he ran a decent race over 1200m on dirt; he was slow to exit the gate and stayed towards the rear, maintaining an average pace throughout, gradually closing in at the finish. A recent trial looked promising. Running on Happy Valley turf over a mile this time with a two-pound allowance, his sectional times were acceptable. He trailed in the race, displaying the most potent finishing kick in his field. The jockey/horse combination is decent, but conditions are slightly disadvantageous and the jockey/trainer coordination isn't ideal; worth backing as a longshot.
