5/8 (Happy Valley turf trial 1700m: 3-3-4-2) held an inside position on the straight, accelerating to second. Five weeks ago, this horse performed poorly in a Happy Valley mile race, being slow out of the gates and tracking from the rear. He showed acceleration mid-race and chased again down the straight for two sections, maintaining a steady pace throughout but showing an unremarkable run. He finished far behind. After a trial run, there was some slight improvement. Switching to Sha Tin turf over 1800m for the first time, his timing hasn't been outstanding, and his position is somewhat disadvantaged. His finishing kick was slightly lacking, and the jockey/trainer combination wasn't ideal, but given the distance and favorable barrier draw, he should not be overlooked.
