Six weeks ago, this horse ran competitively in the same race. He was not fast coming out of the gate but settled back, progressing steadily throughout; he managed to regain some ground late in the race. Fortunately, the margin was not too great, and he finished beaten two and a half lengths. The circumstances were unfavorable, as was his draw; if employed in a stalking-the-pack strategy, his late burst of speed will struggle to match the competition, and the jockey/trainer combination was not ideal.
