After a slow start from the gate, he conserved energy and maintained an average pace throughout, slowly closing in to secure second place, beaten by only a length. Stepping up in class, he ran over 1800m on Happy Valley turf; this time there is an eight-pound weight reduction. With three wins in six starts, his timing within the group is satisfactory, and he shows no signs of being off form recently. Even if the circumstances are not ideal, requiring him to sit back and conserve energy, or if his closing speed is inferior to the competition, or if there isn't a particularly strong rapport between jockey and trainer, he is still considered a supporting runner this race.
