STURDY RUBY

Trial on August 25th (Dirt Trial, 1200m: 10-10-9), showed some late urging but was not out of place. This is his first start this season; two months ago in a similar race, he performed reasonably well but faded towards the end. A recent trial run showed he couldn't keep up with the pace. The time shown was weaker, and his prospects were slightly unfavorable; he had to settle in the rear, lacking the finishing power of his rivals. The jockey-trainer combination wasn't ideal, but given his three wins from 28 starts and recent satisfactory form, he should not be overlooked.
