On August 26th, he ran a dirt barrier trial over 1050m (running positions: 2-1-2), briefly leading before being overtaken. This is his first start this season; two months ago, he performed exceptionally well in a dirt 1200m race. He was slow to leave the barrier, settled back in the pack with a steady pace throughout, and made a gradual late run to finish as runner-up. A recent barrier trial showed slight improvement. Running on Happy Valley turf over a shorter distance, he will carry two extra pounds in this race with unfavorable conditions and poor draw. While overall form is not highlighted by the jockey/trainer combination, he settles back well and possesses a strong finishing kick among his rivals. With three wins from ten starts, he must be monitored.
