MAZING GRACE

October 25th (Dirt Trial 1200m: 6-6-4) moved out progressively, encouraged by the jockey. Four weeks ago, his performance over 1600m on Sha Tin turf was disappointing; he trailed throughout the race with a steady pace, showing no real zip. His recent trial run was mediocre. Transitioning to dirt over a mile for the first time, he found conditions somewhat challenging and finished trailing in the run-in. His finishing power may not match his rivals, but the track configuration should suit him and his times remain acceptable; a subdued performance is not surprising.
