TOP NEWS was slow to begin. GUNNER MAC was crowded for room at the start between NOVEL WINNING and NEW GLORY, both of which shifted ground. At the start, DANE PATROL was crowded for room between SAMMY’S FALCON and HAPPY REUNION which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. After making contact with DANE PATROL, HAPPY REUNION shifted out, resulting in EL ZONDA being hampered. Shortly after the 800 Metres, DIAMOND KNIGHT got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ENRICHED. The Stewards interviewed Apprentice K C Leung, in the presence of his allocated trainer, Mr P O’Sullivan, regarding him dropping his whip near the 300 Metres on PERFECT STYLE. The Stewards have previously spoken with Apprentice Leung on a number of occasions both this racing season and the previous season regarding him dropping his whip. Apprentice Leung was advised that the number of occasions on which he has dropped his whip during races is unacceptable and that should he offend again within a reasonable period of time, disciplinary action may be taken. A veterinary inspection of GUNNER MAC, TOWKAY FLYER and SAMMY’S FALCON after the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPY REUNION, CHINA LUJIA and NEW GLORY were sent for sampling. <30/11/2009 Additional Veterinary Report> TOWKAY FLYER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. TOWKAY FLYER was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, TOWKAY FLYER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
