MASTER TOUCH began awkwardly. From the outside barrier, WINNING EDGE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1200 Metres, FORTUNE SIX proved difficult to settle and shifted out, resulting in AMBITIOUS TREASURE being taken out across the heels of MASTER TOUCH. Approaching the 1000 Metres, AMBITIOUS TREASURE got its head up when crowded for room between CLASSA which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NATIONAL TREASURE and FORTUNE SIX which shifted out when racing close to the heels of MASCOT FORTUNE. WINNING EDGE had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 250 Metres. On a number of occasions over the final 200 Metres, LONGWAH RISING and GREAT GUY brushed due to both horses shifting ground. Over the concluding stages, JOYFUL WINNER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASCOT FORTUNE. Throughout the race, MASTER TOUCH travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of MASTER TOUCH after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, MASTER TOUCH will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NATIONAL TREASURE and GREAT GUY were sent for sampling.
