OTTIMO was withdrawn on 2.3.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of mucopus on scoping after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BULB TREASURE (W M Lai). Before being allowed to race again, OTTIMO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, REDOUTE’S FORTUNE bounded in the air and consequently was slow to begin. ENERGIZED began awkwardly. Near the 1300 Metres, FLORAL NIRVANA was steadied when racing in restricted room between NORDIC STAR and ENERGIZED which was taken in slightly by HO WONGCHOY which in turn was racing tight inside MAGNANIMOUS which in turn was awkwardly placed inside PERFECT TEN. From the outside barrier, PERFECT TEN raced wide and without cover throughout. Also for the majority of the race, MAGNANIMOUS travelled wide and without cover. Although the Stewards were comfortably satisfied that H W Lai’s riding out of THE UNTOUCHABLELAD, third placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s placing, nonetheless he was reminded of his obligation to ride his horses right out to the finish of the race. The Stewards noted the margin of ¾ length between THE UNTOUCHABLELAD and BULB TREASURE, second placegetter, at the end of the race. THE UNTOUCHABLELAD, WIN A DOZEN and BULB TREASURE were sent for sampling.
