QUEEN DRAGON, which was leaning on the inside of its barrier, lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently began awkwardly. QUEEN DRAGON was then bumped by CHARTER VICTORIA which shifted out. BORNFREE was crowded for room at the start between OVERDRIVE and LOVELY PANDA which was taken out by PURE FORCE which shifted out. Approaching the 800 Metres, G Mossé (BORNFREE) adjusted his left foot in the stirrup iron. A short distance later, BORNFREE got its head up when awkwardly placed outside the heels of LOVELY PANDA which shifted out slightly. O Doleuze (WINFULL PATROL) was spoken to regarding raising his whip arm above shoulder height after the 300 Metres. T H So (PURE FORCE) was fined a sum of $2,000 for raising his whip arm above shoulder height after the 300 Metres. After the race, Z Purton reported that OVERDRIVE, which was having its first race start today, hung in throughout the race and proved difficult to ride. A veterinary inspection of BORNFREE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WINFULL PATROL, PURE FORCE and FANTASTICO were sent for sampling.
