LINKED WIN and NOBLE DE LAGO were difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, LINKED WIN and NOBLE DE LAGO will both have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SLEEPCARE and LUCKY SELECTION were slow to begin. MUSTANG began awkwardly. MULTIGLORY was crowded for room at the start between RACING LEGEND and LINKED WIN which began awkwardly and shifted in. Apprentice M Chadwick (MULTIGLORY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of LINKED WIN, resulting in that horse being taken out onto WIN A DOZEN which in turn was taken out onto NOBLE DE LAGO, resulting in NOBLE DE LAGO being taken out across the rightful running of COSMO SUCCESSOR which as a result lost its rightful running and checked. In this incident, WINDICATOR RETURNS became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by COSMO SUCCESSOR. Apprentice Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 1 February 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 24 January 2010. For some distance after the 400 Metres, MUSTANG was unable to obtain clear running. Near the 300 Metres, COSMO SUCCESSOR became unbalanced when bumped by NOBLE DE LAGO which shifted out slightly. A veterinary inspection of POWER RETURN after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, POWER RETURN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LINKED WIN and WIN A DOZEN after the race did not show any significant findings. MULTIGLORY and CHEVALIER KING were sent for sampling.
