As the start was effected, THINK BIG, which had been fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. RECORD HIGH shifted in at the start and bumped CHARITABLE STAR. Shortly after the start, MEDIC FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of BLEDISLOE. Passing the 1300 Metres, THINK BIG was momentarily crowded for room inside KIMBER FORTUNE. Near the 1250 Metres, RECORD HIGH raced tight inside KOENIGSBERG which at this time got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of CHARITABLE STAR. For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, CARISSIMA proved difficult to settle when being steadied to allow CLASSA SUPREME to cross.
