SHAM SHUI PO was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, EASTERN EMPIRE shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of NOBLE FLIER which became unbalanced. LEO’S PRIDE was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and until passing the 200 Metres. For the major part of the race, YOUNG HERO travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, H W Lai stated that it had been intended for LEO’S PRIDE to be ridden in a midfield position if possible. He said at its most recent start LEO’S PRIDE stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. He said for this reason he rode LEO’S PRIDE along in the early stages to ensure that it did not lose unnecessary ground at the start. He said shortly after the start he steadied LEO’S PRIDE to allow other runners to cross and he anticipated that VANQUISH DELIGHT would be steadied to allow YOUNG HERO to cross which would result in LEO’S PRIDE racing in about midfield. He said however that VANQUISH DELIGHT maintained its position in the lead and this resulted in LEO’S PRIDE occupying a more prominent position than had been anticipated. A veterinary inspection of LOCAL POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. KENOBE and EURO SWIFTLY were sent for sampling. <15/7/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SPINNAKER was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SPINNAKER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
