When crossing to the course proper en route to the All Weather Track, LUCKY AMORE, which had proved difficult to proceed from the Parade Ring, reared and got down, resulting in its rider, Apprentice K C Leung, being dislodged. LUCKY AMORE was then not able to be ridden to the Start. After being examined by the Veterinary Officer, LUCKY AMORE was found to be lame in the right front leg and the right hind leg and was withdrawn from the race. Prior to being permitted to race again, LUCKY AMORE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination and also to be able to be ridden to the Start. After entering the track, N Callan was dislodged from CENTURY SUPER STAR. N Callan quickly remounted and proceeded to the Start. After being loaded, CENTURY SUPER STAR momentarily got its right hind leg on the barrier platform. EXCEPTIONAL ART began awkwardly, got its head up and was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages. JUN QI, which was racing to the outside of EXCEPTIONAL ART, was hampered as a consequence. XI YING MEN and CHEERFUL DELIGHTS were slow to begin. XI YING MEN was then aggressively ridden to improve its position and near the 1100 Metres was steadied away from the heels of FLASHING AURA which shifted in. After this, XI YING MEN over-raced and proved very difficult to settle and for some distance after the 1000 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLASHING AURA. After being crossed by FLASHING AURA near the 800 Metres, RICH UNICORN got its head up and proved difficult to settle. TURF MAGIC, which was following and also over-racing, was hampered in consequence. Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, TURF MAGIC, which was proving very difficult to settle, got its head up and hung out across the heels of XI YING MEN, resulting in TURF MAGIC being severely checked. When being checked, TURF MAGIC shifted out and bumped MY TIME which became badly unbalanced. ONE WEE ACORN, which was following, was severely checked and shifted wider in consequence. The racing manners of TURF MAGIC were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TURF MAGIC will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. At the entrance to the Straight, TURF MAGIC was steadied when crowded for room between MY TIME and EXCEPTIONAL ART (M Chadwick) which shifted out. M Chadwick was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. A veterinary inspection of TURF MAGIC after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of XI YING MEN after the race showed that the horse was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, XI YING MEN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RICH UNICORN and FLASHING AURA were sent for sampling.
