On arrival at the holding area after being transported from the Olympic stable, it was noted that GORGEOUS RULER had its right front plate refitted. GORGEOUS RULER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. OUTTALIMITZ got its head up on jumping and consequently was slow to begin. LUCKY EMPEROR became badly unbalanced when crowded for room shortly after the start between KINGSTON SPARTACUS and HUA SHI which shifted in. In this incident, LUCKY EMPEROR bumped the hindquarters of KINGSTON SPARTACUS which became unbalanced. BEAUTIFUL CHOICE shifted out at the start and bumped SHARP BOY, resulting in that horse being taken out onto the hindquarters of HUMONGUS. When being taken across behind KINGSTON SPARTACUS near the 1500 Metres, HUA SHI struck the heels of that horse and blundered. In the early stages, SHARP BOY proved difficult to settle and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, MEDIC FORTUNE was shifted out away from the heels of SHARP BOY which was giving ground. The performance of SHARP BOY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SHARP BOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the 400 Metres, GRANDWAY FLYER and HUMONGUS bumped as GRANDWAY FLYER shifted out from behind BEAUTIFUL CHOICE into clear running. Over the final 50 Metres, FERRABOSCO got its head on the side and shifted out. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTIFUL CHOICE and SHARP BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. FERRABOSCO, KINGSTON SPARTACUS and HUMONGUS were sent for sampling.
