RISE AND SHINE was withdrawn on 3.4.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory disease). WINNING SPEED was withdrawn on 4.4.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, RISE AND SHINE and WINNING SPEED will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, KING OF TURF was checked when crowded for room between FOREVER FRIENDSHIP and LUCKY MONEY which began awkwardly and shifted out. Shortly after straightening, BOUNCER, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the inside of CALIFORNIA BISHOP. After this, BOUNCER continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running and after the 300 Metres was shifted out to go forward. When questioned regarding the poor performance of TAN TAT BABY, D Whyte said his mount proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages and for a considerable distance after the 1300 Metres raced awkwardly close to the heels of MAVERICK as he endeavoured to come back to obtain a position with cover behind that runner. He said because of the manner in which TAN TAT BABY was racing, he had difficulty in steadying his mount and this allowed BOUNCER an opportunity to improve on his inside. He said because of the manner in which TAN TAT BABY travelled, it failed to finish the race off. TAN TAT BABY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. FOREVER FRIENDSHIP was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TAN TAT BABY and FOREVER FRIENDSHIP after the race did not show any significant findings. BOUNCER and MAVERICK were sent for sampling.
