From the outside barrier, FAVOURITE SUPREME was taken across behind runners in the early stages. With the intention of being ridden in a rearward position, ENCHANTED on jumping got its head up and was then taken across behind runners, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. In the early stages, FAMAGUSTA proved difficult to settle. In the early and middle stages, HORSE WIN WIN also proved difficult to settle. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, SUPER SNIPPETS, which was over-racing, became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of HORSE WIN WIN. After this, SUPER SNIPPETS continued to over-race until after entering the Home Straight. Also approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, EIGHT PLUS NINE became unbalanced and was carried wider by HORSE WIN WIN which shifted out. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, NAMJONG FIGHTERS was steadied away from the heels of CENTURY SUPER STAR and WIN AGAIN was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BOBO WIN. After the 800 Metres, ENCHANTED was steadied away from the heels of EIGHT PLUS NINE. At the 500 Metres, SUPER SNIPPETS was steadied when awkwardly placed outside the heels of CENTURY SUPER STAR which shifted out slightly. After the 200 Metres, NAMJONG FIGHTERS, which was closing the race off strongly, was momentarily steadied when improving towards the inside of BOBO WIN which was giving ground. After the 100 Metres, NAMJONG FIGHTERS, which was continuing to close the race off, was again momentarily steadied away from the heels of CALIFORNIA LUCK which shifted in momentarily. For the majority of the race, CALIFORNIA LUCK hung out. Throughout the race, DR POSSI travelled wide and without cover. B Prebble (FAMAGUSTA) reported in the Straight when under pressure his mount shifted ground on several occasions, obliging him to change whip hands. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MASCOT FORTUNE, G Mossé said the horse became very stirred up behind the barriers today which it had not done when successful at its most recent race start. He said MASCOT FORTUNE from a wide barrier proved very difficult to settle, after the 1000 Metres when pulling its way forward became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of DR POSSI which shifted in when barely clear. He said after this MASCOT FORTUNE was left racing without cover and came under pressure prior to straightening. He said in the Straight MASCOT FORTUNE did not respond to his riding. FAMAGUSTA and MASCOT FORTUNE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FAMAGUSTA and MASTER FORTUNE after the race did not show any significant findings. UNIQUE JEWELLERY and FAVOURITE SUPREME were sent for sampling.
