BEST FRIEND was slow to begin. After being ridden to go forward at the start, CHINA WIN in the early stages proved difficult to settle. After the 600 Metres, QUEST FOR LOVE was carried wider by PALETTE THE BEST which shifted out. From the 300 Metres until the 200 Metres, CHINA WIN had difficulty obtaining clear running. For the major part of the race, QUEST FOR LOVE travelled wide and without cover. BEST FRIEND and STILTON were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SAFETY FIRST had lost its right hind plate.
