STEPS AHEAD

Four weeks ago, this horse ran prominently over Sha Tin 2000m, jumping moderately but finishing with a strong final two sections. He was beaten two and a half lengths. A recent dirt trial (1200m: 3-3-2) saw him relaxed around the three bends. Returning to racing, he will try Sha Tin over 1800m this time with an eight-pound weight reduction. Having performed well at this distance previously and showing good times within his group, a hold-up tactic emphasizing a strong finishing kick is expected. The horse appears in excellent form and is considered the leading contender for this race if prepared correctly, potentially aiming for a second position.
