On April 25th, a turf trial over 1200m at Conghua saw the horse lead comfortably throughout. Four weeks ago, in a Sha Tin 1400m race, performance was reasonable; a slow start meant settling towards the rear, but showed an effort in the middle stages and made ground, finishing six lengths behind the winner. A subsequent barrier trial indicated slight improvement. Another Happy Valley mile trial this time with a five-pound weight reduction, timing comparable to its group, expected to settle in a good position tracking the leaders with a favourable draw. The jockey has some familiarity with the horse; despite four previous defeats over this distance, conditions aren’t unfavourable and trainer/jockey combination isn't strong, an upset is possible.
