On May 22nd, the horse completed a dirt trial over 1200m in 7-4-2 sectionals, slightly held back early and making a second effort after rounding the bend. Five weeks ago, he ran poorly over a Sha Tin 1400m turf track, with a slow start and settling at the rear of the field with an even pace but no finishing kick. A recent barrier trial showed slight improvement. Having dropped 28 pounds in body weight, he is stepping up in class this time. Another turf trial was undertaken over 1600m; now set to race with a 15-pound reduction in weight, good times were recorded within the group, and an advantageous barrier draw has been secured allowing for a potential front-running position, displaying strong finishing speed compared to other horses in the same group. The horse appears to be in favorable form. Jockey Angus Chung replaces the previous rider and has some understanding of the horse’s capabilities; increased training efforts are being made, and if he jumps cleanly, a forward placing is achievable.
