EVER SMART

Two weeks ago, this horse delivered an excellent performance over a Sha Tin 1400m course, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear before making a strong late run with fast sections. In a recent trial at Happy Valley over 1200m, he benefits from a one-pound weight reduction but drew a poor barrier, resulting in a less favourable position. Although his section times were comparable to others, a hold-up tactic is expected and finishing kick will be key to his chances. There doesn’t appear to be any obvious intent for an early pace challenge.
