Four weeks ago, over the same distance, this horse ran well despite a slow start, settling towards the rear before making ground with a fast final two sections. He finished seventh, beaten by one and a half lengths. This time he has a 1-pound weight reduction, having previously won twice at this distance; his sectionals are comparable to rivals. Drawing a favorable barrier, the jockey has some understanding of the horse's capabilities and trainer/jockey relationship is good. Despite preparation work, even if forced to settle towards the rear again, finishing speed may not be sufficient to challenge competitors, making his chances questionable but a performance isn’t entirely unexpected.
