NOISY BOY

On June 30th (dirt trial 1200m: 9-8-5), the horse maintained a wide position and ran at a controlled pace. Six weeks ago, over a dirt mile, the performance was below expectations; a slow jump led to settling towards the rear with an even tempo but showing some late effort. He finished eighth, beaten two and a half lengths. A recent barrier trial didn't indicate improvement. This will be his debut over Happy Valley’s 1800m, carrying 13 pounds more this time. The distance is unfavorable, and he drew a poor barrier. Expecting a trailing position; however, the finishing kick isn’t as strong as rivals, and trainer-jockey combination hasn't been ideal. Despite that, conditions are favorable with Luke Ferraris taking the ride – a jockey who appears to be gaining understanding of the horse's capabilities. The preparation seems thorough, suggesting potential for a forward run.
