Three weeks ago, over this same distance, the horse performed well despite a slow jump, settling towards the rear and making a mid-race move to chase the leaders. This time with a two-pound weight reduction, facing comparable opposition and drawing a favorable barrier, the plan is again to settle back in the field, relying on a strong finishing kick which appears to be its strongest asset. Trainer and jockey are in good accord, with gate work being added prior to the race. Despite three previous defeats over this course and distance, the current form doesn’t rule out a potential upset.
