On October 27th (dirt trial 1200m, running positions 6-6-5), the horse travelled on the inside rail during the straight, responding to urging with a late rally. Three weeks ago in a Sha Tin turf mile race, performance was below expectations; a slow start saw it settle towards the rear, making progress in the middle stages but failing to sustain the effort to the finish. A recent barrier trial showed no obvious improvement. Making its debut over Happy Valley’s mile distance this time, needing to carry one pound more and with an increased distance expected to suit, the horse should be able to secure a good position tracking the leaders; drawing a favourable barrier enhances its chances.
