ORIENTAL SURPRISE

Two weeks ago, this horse ran a respectable race over a Happy Valley sprint, jumping slowly but settling back in the field before showing a strong late run. In a subsequent turf trial over 1200m at Happy Valley, he benefits from a two-pound weight reduction and recorded comparable sectionals to his rivals. He is expected to settle back again with a good finishing kick, appears well-positioned, and trainer/jockey are in agreement regarding the horse's preparation. He was given extra work before entering the gate and shouldn’t be underestimated.
