Four weeks ago, over the same distance, the horse performed poorly with a slow jump and settled towards the back. The pace was consistent, making up some ground in the final stages but ultimately finishing three and a half lengths behind. The horse has good overall form, despite the disappointing run. In its upcoming race it will carry fifteen pounds more weight, which is a disadvantageous situation. A hold-up tactic is unlikely to be effective given the need to close on rivals quickly, and trainer/jockey communication hasn’t been strong. The horse has four wins from twenty-seven starts at this distance with reasonable times, but inconsistent performance is to be expected.
