DASHING MAURISON

Three weeks ago, over a Sha Tin 1600m course, the horse ran commendably despite a slow start and settling towards the rear. It made ground in the middle stages, finishing with a strong two-section run along the straight and was beaten by only half a length. Now stepping down to a Happy Valley mile for its first attempt at this distance, the trip may not suit. It recorded slower times in its section compared to others and has an unfavourable barrier draw, but showed a strong finishing kick within the group. The jockey appears to be gaining an understanding of the horse’s characteristics, suggesting a potential opportunity.
