UP WITH CHARM

On February 27th, a turf trial over 1200m at Conghua saw the horse sweating profusely and responding only moderately to urging. Six weeks ago, in a Sha Tin 1400m race, the performance was poor; it settled well but weakened considerably towards the finish, finishing far back. A subsequent barrier trial showed no improvement. Returning to Happy Valley over 1200m, this horse has four defeats from four starts at this distance, with uninspiring times. The current form appears unfavorable and its finishing kick is unremarkable. There hasn’t been a strong connection between the trainer and jockey, and it's not considered a leading contender in this race.
