On March 6th, a turf trial over 1000m at Conghua saw the horse settling mid-pack before improving towards the finish with a good response. Seven weeks ago, in a Sha Tin 1200m race, the performance was disappointing; he led but maintained an even pace throughout and lacked any significant acceleration. A subsequent barrier trial showed moderate form. Returning to Happy Valley over 1200m proved unfavorable, showing a weaker finishing kick. Trainer-jockey communication wasn’t strong, however, this time carrying a five-pound weight reduction and having won three times in twelve starts over this distance, a placing is certainly possible.
