Three weeks ago, the horse performed reasonably well over a dirt mile. He was slow to get away from the starting gates, settled towards the rear, and maintained a steady pace. In the final stages, he gradually regained lost ground; thankfully, he was not too far behind and finished only half a length off the winner. Moving to Happy Valley over 1800m, this is his debut at this distance, and he needs to carry five pounds more this time. The distance might not suit him, giving the prospects a slight disadvantage; however, if he adopts a tracking running style, his late sustained pace is the strongest in the field, and his current form is acceptable, so any lack of performance would not be surprising.
